And it looks like the Kardashian-Jenners are to thank.
Natural hues are having a moment right now. Nude lipstick is trending on the beauty scene and there’s now more demand than ever for flesh-coloured accessories for all skin hues.
In short, it looks like Kanye West might have been onto something with his neutral-heavy Yeezy line after all.
But one place we did not expect to see the understated colour palette take off is in the swimwear department. Somehow the idea of wearing nude swimsuits over bare skin just seemed a little too, well, naked.
Alas, as with most defining trends, they come out of practically nowhere and it’s not long before you can’t imagine life without them.
Nude swimwear is one such example.
According to Polyvore there has been a whopping 145 percent rise in nude swimsuits sales in the last year alone, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down.
And with celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian (and the entire klan for that matter) sporting the look, it was only a matter of time before this trend went global.
The only thing that remains uncertain is whether you match the swimsuit to your skin shade before or *after* fake tan is applied.
We’ll let you be the judge on that one.
